Nikon Binoculars production got its start in 1917 when two of Japan's leading optical companies merged as Nippon Kagaku K.K. and that same year acquired the Fugii Lens Seisakusho firm. Over the next four to five years the company teamed up with various German interests to manufacture optical devices.
